We believe the best journeys do more than take you somewhere new. They introduce you to different perspectives, bring places to life through the people who know them best and create stories you will still be telling years later.

Our tours are designed for travellers who want the reassurance of expert organisation without feeling as though every moment has been overplanned. We take care of the important details while leaving space for spontaneous discoveries, local encounters and time to enjoy each destination at a comfortable pace.

Founder & Managing Director

Maya founded Journeywise after more than a decade working in small-group travel and destination development. She leads the company’s vision and remains closely involved in shaping new journeys, building local partnerships and ensuring every tour reflects the thoughtful approach Journeywise was founded on.

Daniel Okoro

Head of Product & Itineraries

Daniel turns exciting travel ideas into carefully balanced itineraries. With a background in cultural tourism and expedition planning, he works closely with local experts to make sure each journey combines iconic highlights, meaningful experiences and enough breathing room to enjoy them properly.

Sofia Marin

Destination Manager, Europe & Latin America

Sofia oversees Journeywise tours across Europe and Latin America. Fluent in three languages and endlessly curious about regional food, traditions and history, she is always searching for the family-run hotel, local guide or lesser-known experience that makes a journey feel truly distinctive.

Arun Patel

Destination Manager, Asia & Oceania

Arun specialises in building journeys across Asia and Oceania. His role involves researching new routes, supporting local partners and making sure every itinerary feels rewarding from arrival to departure. He is particularly passionate about wildlife, rail travel and regional cuisine.

Chloe Hughes

Traveller Experience Manager

Chloe and her team support travellers from their first enquiry until they return home. She helps guests choose the right tour, prepares them for their journey and works behind the scenes to resolve any questions along the way. Her calm, practical approach makes even complicated travel plans feel manageable.

Marcus Reed

Tour Leader Coordinator

Marcus recruits, supports and trains Journeywise tour leaders around the world. A former guide himself, he understands how much difference an excellent leader can make. He looks for people who are knowledgeable and organised, but also warm, adaptable and genuinely enthusiastic about sharing a destination.

How It Began

One Journey Led to Another

Journeywise began with a simple belief: guided travel should feel personal, flexible and full of genuine discovery.

The idea for Journeywise first took shape during an overland trip through northern Spain. After years of working in the travel industry, our founder Maya Bennett noticed that many guided tours offered one of two extremes: rigid schedules packed with rushed sightseeing, or loosely organised trips that left travellers managing too many details themselves.

She imagined something different.

The first Journeywise departure was a small-group journey through Spain and Portugal, created with the help of local guides, independent hotels and family-run businesses. It combined major landmarks with quieter experiences: a market visit before opening hours, an afternoon with a local ceramicist and an unplanned village festival that became the highlight of the trip.

That first journey shaped the way we still travel today.

Since then, Journeywise has grown to offer tours across six continents, but our approach remains deliberately personal. We continue to build each itinerary with care, work closely with people who know their destinations intimately and choose experiences for their value rather than simply filling a schedule.

We may have travelled further since our first departure, but we are still guided by the same question: what will help our travellers experience this place in a more meaningful way?
